Subfloor Preparation
Before installing vinyl flooring, the subfloor must be prepared. Subfloor preparation is crucial for the installation and use of vinyl flooring. Generally, subfloor preparation includes the following steps:
1. Cleaning the Subfloor: Remove dust, oil, and other contaminants to ensure a smooth and level surface.
2. Filling Subfloor Gaps: Fill any gaps in the subfloor with grout to ensure a seamless finish.
3. Filling Uneven Areas: Fill any uneven areas with mortar or self-leveling cement to ensure a level surface.
Basic Material Preparation
During vinyl flooring installation, the following basic materials need to be prepared:
1. Primer: Used to seal subfloor pores, strengthen the subfloor, and enhance adhesion.
2. Topcoat: Used to coat the entire subfloor, providing aesthetic appeal and protection.
3. Self-leveling Cement: Used to fill uneven areas.
4. Grout: Used to fill any gaps in the subfloor.
5. Special adhesive for laying vinyl flooring.
Primer Application
1. After the floor preparation is complete, a primer application is required. The primer is applied to the floor to improve adhesion.
2. Before application, the primer must be thoroughly stirred until the coating is uniform.
3. Primer application should be done in a suitable ambient temperature, generally above 10℃.
4. When applying the primer, the area to be covered should not be too large or too small.
5. The next step of the flooring process should be carried out within 24 hours after the primer application.
Intermediate Coat Application
1. Intermediate coat application involves applying the special adhesive for vinyl flooring to the floor after the primer application and installing the vinyl flooring before the adhesive dries.
2. When applying the intermediate coat, the special adhesive for vinyl flooring must be thoroughly stirred to ensure uniform coating.
3. Before application, the dried primer on the surface needs to be lightly sanded to improve adhesion.
4. During application, ensure the vinyl flooring is placed in the correct position and orientation.
Topcoat Application
1. Topcoat application is done after the intermediate coat is applied, according to design requirements.
2. The color and type of topcoat should be selected based on design requirements.
3. Before applying the topcoat, thoroughly stir the paint and clean the brushes.
4. When applying the topcoat, avoid over- or under-coating.
5. After the topcoat is applied, allow it to dry completely, generally for at least 24 hours.
Cure
1. After the vinyl flooring is installed, it needs to be cured to ensure the quality of the surface.
2. During curing, avoid any mechanical, chemical, thermal, or other types of damage to ensure the integrity of the surface.
3. During the maintenance period, avoid stepping on the floor, moving furniture, or other actions that could damage the floor.
